Our client is a full-service partner in designing, developing, and manufacturing, specializing in Class II and Class III medical devices. They collaborate with early-stage startups and established MedTech companies to bring next-generation medical technologies to market, offering comprehensive expertise in device R D, embedded cybersecurity, test systems, and commercial manufacturing.

Our client is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to be the technical leader for projects within mechanical engineering, who will mentor others, motivate teams, and foster an environment of collaboration. This role will lead the project execution strategy, taking into account risk factors and will regularly recommend new technologies and best practices for project and domain success. The Principal Mechanical Engineer represents the company externally and is often customer-facing.

You will work directly with startup clients at the forefront of innovation, often transforming a breakthrough idea that may only exist as a concept into a complete process. You will design and integrate technology for a large variety of medical devices that enhance human performance in the face of life-limiting conditions. These devices address many different therapies, such as sleep apnea, diabetes, pain management, memory loss, and many more.

What You Will Do:

You will work with a team of engineers to design components and sub-systems for implantable medical devices.

You will design medical device support equipment, such as remote controls and electrical lead packages.

You will design fixturing used for assembly and tests and analyze systems for hazards and failure modes.

You will be working in mixed technology teams, including systems engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing, automated test, etc.

You will be responsible for the following:

Basic Qualifications:

BS in relevant field or equivalent experience.

Must have active implantable medical device experience.

14 years minimum in the medical device or life sciences industry.

10 years of minimum working experience in a requirements-driven structured development process.

Ability and willingness to inspect and/or review the deliverables of others, up to your level of expertise, according to applicable defined Quality criteria.

Working knowledge and application of relevant regulatory standards (including ISO 13485 quality systems).

Experience with safety-critical applications, medical devices, preferably active implantables.

Mastery of design controls.

Experience with implantable Class III Hermetic enclosures.

Familiarity with Neurostimulation and related clinical indications.

Familiarity with other Class III implantable devices, i.e., pacemakers, defibrillators, heart pumps.

Familiarity with catheter-based technology and related indications, i.e. aneurysms.

Familiarity with manufacturing processes needed to manufacture Class III and Class II devices, i.e. molding, reflow, centerless grinding, tipping, laser spot welding.

Mastery with SolidWorks including documentation structures and implementation

Additional Qualifications:

Advanced degree preferred.

Experience troubleshooting complex systems.

Familiarity with relevant tools.
