Duties Description 1. Review files, reports and data for active spill cases and provide follow up communication with responsible parties and their contractors/consultants.

  1. Respond to spills during work days.

  2. Answer phone call inquiries related to spills.

  3. Update UIS so that database is current.

  4. Review files for FOIL.

  5. Hire state cleanup contractors as needed.

  6. Review payment packages and prepare ISR's for spills where a state contractor has been hired.

  7. Take training courses as needed and required.

Minimum Qualifications Four years of experience in technician work in aeronautical, chemical, civil, electrical, environmental,

mechanical, or sanitary engineering technology; environmental technology; geology or geology technology; or

as a surveyor or a drafter;

OR graduation from high school and one year of qualifying experience;

OR graduation from a high school technical education program in aeronautics, architectural drafting, chemistry,

electricity, electronics, mechanical design and construction, technical structural drafting and design, technical

instrumentation and control systems, or computer circuitry;

OR 18 college semester credit hours in any combination of the following: engineering, geology, environmental

science, natural or physical science, drafting, mathematics, or surveying.

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical background with experience in spill response and remediation.

Additional Comments This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2026, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.

Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.

Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.

Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required.

Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.

Must be able to work in remote areas.

Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.

Travel may be required.

Must be available for emergency response.

Must complete an annual Health and Safety Program including medical monitoring, fit testing, and 40 (or 8) hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.

Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.

Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.
