Brief Summary of Work for this Position:
Research & Innovation (R&I) provides support and vision to create crucial infrastructure, partnerships, and programs for the achievement of research excellence. The goal of the Research Hubs initiative is to accelerate the growth, impact, and competitiveness of UNCW research in strategic areas by serving as a nexus for interdisciplinary teams of researchers to launch or advance multiple research projects.Two Research Hubs are in their second year of activity. The Brain Health Resilience Research Hub is dedicated to brain health resilience advancement spanning prevention to pharmacological intervention, and the Maritime Cybersecurity Applied Research, Technology, and Education Center (MCARTEC) aims to secure and strengthen the resilience of the maritime subsector of the transportation systems sector.The Project Manager position will offer support to both Hubs in the following capacities:Team Management
- Ensure effective communication among team members and stakeholders
- Facilitate collaboration with external partners
- Coordinate meetings and event logistics
- Support PIs in the management of their research projects
- Create workplans and timelines
- Track milestones and monitor progress
- Identify resources needed
- Organize and store project-related information
- Prepare reports
- Maintain website
- Consult with Hub Leads
- Liaise with Research Development Office
- Improve processes
- Administrative duties as assigned
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and two years of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience facilitating an interdisciplinary team working towards achieving a common goal
- Prior experience working on grant-funded projects and meeting deadlines and requirements
- Ability to organize workflows focused on a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and self-management skills, including tracking multi-step processes and multi-year timelines
- Excellent communication skills

Please note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation. Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment.
