Research and Development Engineer

Research and Development Engineer Pay: $30-$40/hour Schedule: Full-time or Part-time (as applicable) About the Role: We're looking for a hands-on R D Engineer to help bring innovative product ideas to lifefrom concept and design to testing and validation. This role blends technical design, prototyping, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced, regulated environment. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop engineering solutions using CAD and simulation tools Conduct proof-of-concept testing, failure analysis, and performance evaluations Collaborate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance Support prototype builds, testing, and documentation Recommend materials, coatings, and processes based on performance and cost Contribute to intellectual property documentation and product lifecycle management Ensure designs meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards What You Bring: Proficiency in CAD and simulation software Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials science, and manufacturing processes Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., ATF, ITAR, ISO 9001) Experience with prototyping, testing, and root cause analysis Excellent problem-solving and documentation skills Bonus: experience with additive manufacturing, advanced coatings, or smart tech Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 3-5 years of experience in R D or product development, preferably in a regulated or defense-related industry Work Environment & Physical Demands: Mix of office, lab, and testing range environments Frequent use of hand tools, computers, and testing equipment Occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs) and PPE use required Exposure to noise, recoil, and live-fire testing conditions
