Launch your engineering career in a dynamic, hands-on role supporting the design and integration of generator-set packages for mission-critical applications like data centers, hospitals, and utilities. As a Project Engineer I, you'll develop both mechanical and electrical/controls skills while learning to create AutoCAD drawings and contribute to system-level designs. You'll work closely with experienced engineers to support layouts, wiring diagrams, and component selection-gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle from concept through commissioning. Basic Duties

-Assist in developing detailed mechanical or electrical/controls documentation

Support the creation of 2D AutoCAD drawings, including assembly layouts, wiring diagrams, and basic schematics for genset packages.

-Learn to apply standard engineering principles

Interpret basic codes, guidelines, and internal standards (e.g., UL, NFPA, ISO) with guidance from senior engineers.

-Support equipment and component specification

Research and select standard mechanical components (e.g., mounts, exhaust, louvers) or electrical devices (e.g., relays, breakers) as directed.

-Contribute to project documentation and submittals

Help compile data sheets, vendor cut sheets, and BOMs into organized submittal packages.

-Collaborate with detailers and production teams

Communicate design intent clearly to drafting and assembly staff to ensure accurate execution.

-Participate in design res and quality checks

Assist in reing drawings and designs for accuracy and compliance under supervision.

-Gain exposure to field and shop environments

Accompany experienced engineers to startup or inspection visits for hands-on learning and customer interaction.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

o B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical field preferred.

o Equivalent technical degree (A.A.S. or military training) plus relevant experience will be considered.

o Entry-level to 3 years of engineering, drafting, or hands-on experience with generator systems, electrical controls, or mechanical systems.

o Military veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.

Technical Expertise

o Familiarity with generator sets, mechanical systems, or electrical distribution/control is preferred.

o Exposure to AutoCAD for 2D drafting is required; 3D modeling (e.g., Inventor or SolidWorks) is a plus.

o Basic understanding of electrical or mechanical components such as relays, motors, heat exchangers, or enclosures.

o Willingness to learn NFPA, UL, NEC, and ISO standards as part of professional development.

Other Requirements

o Valid driver's license with a clean record (no more than two minor violations in the last three years and no major violations in the last five years).

o Occasional travel to job sites, production facilities, or training events may be required.

o Ability to work in a fast paced environment and willing to work some Saturdays when needed

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

This position works in an office environment. May on a continuous basis walk, bend and lift up to 20lbs. Will be required to wear appropriate safety equipment (IE- Safety glasses or side shields, hearing protection, etc.) for a given situation. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Occasional travel may be required.
