Wireless RF Electronic Design Engineer, Passive Entry

The Tesla wireless hardware team is seeking an electrical engineer specializing in wireless and RF system design with at least 3+ years of industry experience in industrial design and validation. This role will primarily focus on developing the cutting-edge passive entry system for next-gen vehicles to ensure a seamless user experience. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated to work in a startup-like environment, adept at addressing challenges in dynamic, fast-paced scenarios. Prior experience guiding a product through the full lifecyclefrom prototype to high-volume productionis strongly preferred. Exceptional recent graduates with outstanding academic achievements and relevant internship experience will also be considered.

  • Design and develop various wireless electronic control units (ECU) by selecting components, defining system architecture, creating schematics and supervising PCB layouts
  • Lead the complete development lifecycle from ideation to mass production
  • Manage suppliers and contract manufacturers and willing to travel oversea to support
  • Debug and fix issues at the component level and vehicle level with cross teams
  • Define test plans and execute to validate wireless ECUs functionality and performance
  • Collaborate with compliance and EMC teams on applicable industry and world-wide regulatory
  • Integrate ECUs into vehicles and validate the system performance at the vehicle level
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of industry experience or recent graduate with a remarkable background
  • A solid understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals with emphasis on RF and analog circuit analysis
  • Working knowledge of wireless transceiver blocks such as low noise amplifier (LNA), mixers, power amplifiers (PA), Phase-lock loop (PLL) and filters
  • Knowledge on wireless key parameters including noise figure (NF), non-linearity, phase noise, error vector magnitude (EVM), and adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR) and why each parameter is important
  • Good and effective communication with cross-functional teams including antenna, firmware, vehicle integration, supply chain and compliance team
  • Knowledge on digital interface such as SPI, I2C, CAN, UART and ethernet
  • Working experience of wireless system such as Bluetooth, NFC, ultra-wide band (UWB)
  • Experience operating lab equipment like network analyzer and oscilloscope
  • Familiar with simulation tools such as ADS, and CST (or HFSS)
