Duration: Estimated 12-15 months (potential for extension or perm conversion)

Weekly Hours: ~20 hours/week (flexible, based on project needs)

Description:

Scope of Project:Engineering, design, installation, and startup of 44 Elettric80 AGVs, 12 Chargers, 1 Inbound conveyor exchange, 2 Outbound conveyor exchangesExchange lanes with case picking, layer picking, and railNew conveyor distribution system from manufacturing (existing conveyor remains; replacing outfeed end with new accumulation, 12 P&D spurs, controls, scanning, profiling, etc.) E80 SMILE WMS integration and implementation (first site integrating E80 WMS with SAP EWM)Drive and manage integration with internal IT and external supportCollaborate with Internal IT on onsite servers and network architecture

General Project Management:Oversee project (Champaign Buffer AGVs) from PO through startup and closeoutLead weekly update calls with company and suppliersManage communication with vendors, E80, and companyDrive and manage project scheduleMaintain and update project task listManage project documentation

Execution Phase 1: Engineering and DesignLead project scoping and final design activitiesCollaborate with suppliers on engineering specificationsManage project planning and documentationEnsure alignment with capital project goals and timelinesVerify scope, specifications, flows, throughputs, etc.Guide E80 through detailed engineering and designDevelop detailed project schedule and planManage E80 WMS integration with internal IT and contractors (first-time integration with SAP EWM)Establish phased installation plan with E80

Execution Phase 2: Deployment and ExecutionOversee field deployment of automation systemsCoordinate installation and commissioning of AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) systemsManage on-site activities during deployment (approx. 50% travel required)Ensure successful execution and delivery of project milestonesGeneral ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary project manager for a large capital initiativeInterface with internal stakeholders and external suppliersMaintain project timelines, budgets, and deliverables\Provide status updates and reportingAdapt to evolving project scope and potentially split responsibilities across phasesManage onsite installation and startupOversee startup activities: change management, operational tools, floor marking, signage, etc.Coordinate training for operators, supervisors, etc.Ensure safety specifications are metManage setup and training of E80 resident maintenance team onsiteGuide E80 through final site acceptance testing and qualification

Additional Information:Candidate does not need to relocate to Champaign, but must be willing to travelRole may evolve into two separate positions for design and deployment phasesContract is flexible (e.g., month-to-month, long-term, or potential conversion)

Years of strong and solid experience with automation projects (PMP certification preferred but not required)Experience in food, beverage, manufacturing or CPG industry preferredMust be willing to travelExperience managing large capital projectsHands-on experience with industrial automation, especially AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles)Broader automation experience is acceptable if AGV-specific experience is unavailable.Ability to manage remote and on-site coordinationComfortable working in a flexible, evolving project environment
