Your role within the team:
- Prepare and /or review design documents for Nuclear Power Plants, e.g., Design Calculation, Design Requirements, Assessments, Technical Specifications, Drawings, Bill of Materials, and System Code Classification.
- Develop and implement Plant Outage Plans, Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Procedures, Systematic Assessment of Maintenance, and FMEA procedures and techniques and proactively work out and implement plant specific methodologies to assess equipment condition monitoring, single point vulnerability, predictive and preventive maintenance strategies to mitigate the long- and short-term risks.
- Perform technical review of process flow sheets, detail drawings, equipment arrangement/layouts as well as sizing and selection of mechanical components related to nuclear steam plants, with specific focus on ensuring the maintenance-based design features and ease of plant operation and equipment maintenance requirements are fully met.
- Performing design/analysis of hydraulic and electro-mechanical systems.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to engineers at lower grade levels and/or other technical employees.
- Ensure adherence to company quality program.
- Ensure applicable code, standards and regulatory requirements are met.
- Support Engineering Management with timely updates on engineering progress.
- Perform walkdowns, attend site visits and meetings as required.

The ideal candidate:
- Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or Engineering Science.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in process-system design/analysis, preferably providing design solutions for CANDU nuclear power plants or BWR/PWR markets.
- Minimum 3 years of nuclear industry or other heavy new build projects are an asset (e.g. nuclear, combined cycle).
- Experience performing work to nuclear power plants procedures and practices and qualifications for nuclear power plants engineering activities is an asset.
- Experience performing heat balance and thermohydraulic evaluations.
- Solid understanding of process systems, equipment, operation and maintenance procedures, materials, material selection and fundamentals of machine component design. Solid understanding and experience in equipment sizing, selection, and troubleshooting issues.
- A working knowledge of/ and establish experience using nuclear pressure boundary Codes and Standards is an asset.
- Knowledge of/ and proven experience in Plant Operation and Maintenance, Failure Modes Effects Analysis, critical equipment and system aging process and degradation mechanism and the use of application of proven mitigation methodologies to enhance the equipment life, operational performance, and reliability measures with specific focus on plant, environment and personnel safety.
- Knowledge of analytical tools used for mechanical and process design, e.g., ANSYS, Mathcad, AFT FATHOM, NUCIRC, CATHENA or similar.
- Working knowledge of/experience using nuclear Codes and Standards, including CSA N285.0 and ASME Section III.
- Working knowledge of/experience with the CSA B51 standard, ASME B31.1 codes and other nuclear-power-plant applicable standards or regulatory guides related to permanent plant components, pressure boundary equipment, and/or reactor systems.
- Must have excellent communication and technical writing skills.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
