ENGINEERS WANTED for hazardous journey. Low wages, high voltages, long hours of difficult technical work, safe career choice doubtful. Riches and Glory in case of success.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Join Fleetzero's Electrical, Hardware, & Embedded team and contribute to R D and production of the next generation in maritime technology. We work in a highly iterative method, testing early and often, rather than a traditional linear or waterfall development program.
In this team, you will develop power conversion and distribution systems and related circuitry for vessel propulsion in autonomous, electric, and hybrid vessels. You will integrate with marine, hardware, and firmware engineers and manage projects from conception through testing iterations, prototype manufacturing, and field testing. This is a hands-on role developing critical components for safety-critical applications in harsh environments. You will be expected to be comfortable taking independent initiative and working as a team with other highly motivated engineers.
Responsibilities
Design ship power conversion systems, including switchboards and components, using bidirectional inverters, associated filtering, fusing, and circuit protection.
Serve as a subject matter expert for electrical power system integration activities.
Design and analyze vessel electrical & propulsion systems ranging from clean slate design to system modifications
Select and integrate transformers, DC-DCs, control gears, sensors, enclosures, busbars, fuses, etc, in various marine applications
Integrate Fleetzero-designed systems with vessel legacy propulsion systems for testing
Develop one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, load analyses, and other relevant work products necessary for R D through sea trials
Participate in testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and integration
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, focusing on system-level design, development, and testing.
Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Experience and competence in power generation and distribution systems.
Proficiency in system testing, including development and execution of test procedures.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Ability to work in a collaborative fast-paced environment
Bonus Qualifications
Experience with the marine environment and/or marine equipment (Navy, Merchant Marine, Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering, etc.)
Experience with Marine Class Societies (ABS, DNV, LR, etc)
Experience with USCG, MIL STD, UL, and other regulatory bodies and standards
>
$117,000 - $217,000 a year
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in most full time offers and are considered part of Fleetzero's total compensation package.
