Torch is seeking a Mechanical Engineer that will provide technical and operational expertise for complex defense-related projects, ensuring alignment with programmatic guidelines, schedule, and budget requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, modify and evaluate mechanical and electromechanical components, systems and sub-systems for innovative weapons and targeting systems.
  • Prepare design specifications, analyze and make recommendations for presentation and approval.
  • Lead technical and operational efforts for project/mission execution in alignment with program objectives.
  • Define, generate, and review project requirements documentation.
  • Conduct technical studies to refine and validate project requirements.
  • Coordinate with resource managers and supervisors to secure necessary reviews and approvals.
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, and budget to ensure successful delivery.
  • Support integration and testing of missile systems and subsystems, including hardware and software development.
  • Provide oversight for platform integration teams handling mechanical, electrical, and interface design activities.
  • Contribute to missile buildup, live-fire testing, and delivery programs as assigned.
  • Participate in failure review boards and phase-down analyses to drive improvements for future missions.
  • Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years applicable mechanical engineering experience.
  • Proven experience leading complex defense or aerospace projects.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles (scope, schedule, budget).
  • Experience coordinating multi-discipline engineering teams.
  • Ability to develop and interpret technical requirements documentation.
  • Experience with missile systems, platforms, or related defense programs.
  • Experience with integration, test, and evaluation processes for weapon systems.
  • Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mathematics degree is preferred.
  • Prior experience supporting and/or leading government engineering initiatives or IPTs.
  • Prior experience with budget management for government and customer programs.
  • Experience with component fabrication.
