Job Description This role focuses on hardware aspects of products throughout their entire lifecycle, including architecture, planning, design, verification, and validation. The successful candidate will provide electrical-design technical leadership for cross-functional new product development and sustaining engineering projects. The hardware design development will involve products based on various sensing technologies, such as optical and electrochemical, and communication technologies, both wired and wireless. Responsibilities
- Lead the design and integration of electronics and peripherals, including FPGA, components, and PCB.
- Develop power designs and analog circuit designs for sensing technologies.
- Ensure designs are suitable for manufacturing and testing, with a focus on sensor technologies.
- Utilize Altium for schematic and board layout, while being open to other CAD experiences.
- Conduct FPGA design and testing, with preference for Alterra tools.
- Write and manage requirements and test cases, with Jira experience being advantageous.
- Collaborate with Systems Engineers to design new product architectures, partitioning system architecture into sub-systems.
- Write and link sub-system requirements for circuit modules and develop test cases against these requirements.
- Participate in testing at offsite facilities, requiring some travel within Twin Cities.
- Electrical engineering and design experience, particularly with Verilog and Altera toolset.
- Experience in designing circuits for embedded systems, including sensing, mixed signal, communication, and power conversion/distribution technologies.
- Proficiency in electronics testing and writing test cases.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Systems Engineers.
- Experience in regulated industries such as industrial, medical, or defense.
- Experience with PCB and FPGA design.
- Ability to act as a technical mentor within the team.
- Hands-on problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience using Jira for requirements and test case management.
