Mechanical Engineer

Scottsdale, AZ

Contract Position

Pay Estimated: $80.11-$85.11/Hour

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors, (geographical location, etc.)

Contribute to a company at the forefront of mission-critical systems and technologies in defense and security. This leader in global defense integrates advanced technology to deliver information and insights on the battlefield, offering roles that support security and technological superiority across multiple domains.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support mechanical engineering tasks related to the design, documentation, and integration of transit case and rack assemblies for advanced defense systems.

  • Oversee mechanical designs and ensure accuracy of CAD models, component drawings, and bill of materials (BOMs) using PDM tools.

  • Perform updates to rack mount component ISO views, patch panel designs, and RF tray assemblies.

  • Update wire lists, Visio rack diagrams, and drawing trees to reflect system changes and enhancements.

  • Support cable selection, estimates, and development of cable VIDs and interconnect documentation.

  • Create and revise Source Control Drawings (SCDs) and implement engineering changes (PDM CRs/CNs).

  • Interface with manufacturing teams to support initial system builds, incorporate redlines, and ensure as-built accuracy.

  • Provide minimal CAD support, with primary oversight responsibilities for existing design efforts.

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law.

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field; a Masters degree may substitute for years of experience.

  • 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Masters degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.

  • Advanced proficiency in CAD modeling tools and mechanical drawing creation.

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods, including relevant government and industry standards.

  • Experience with rack and transit case assemblies, including elevation layouts, BOMs, and wire list development.

  • Familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systems for managing engineering changes and documentation.

  • Ability to support updates to system diagrams, cable documentation, and component drawings throughout development and production phases.

  • Proficient in tools such as Visio and Excel for design documentation and cable tracking.
