Title: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Chillicothe, IL
Details: 12-month contract with ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire, fully onsite position
Pay Rate: $39.00 - 43.00/hr. with benefit inclusions
Job Summary
As a Battery Systems Development Engineer, you will work with a team of engineers and be accountable for the creation and execution of battery module and system level validation plans. This includes reviewing battery system standards (e.g., ISO, IEC, UL), creating pretest planning documentation, executing test processes, and reviewing test data for acceptance. The successful candidate will serve as an experienced contributor on complex assignments, collaborating with teams across the US.
Responsibilities
Support in the review of customer application requirements and apply those details toward validation success criteria
Support validation and development documentation process by working with design teams to:
Create Boundary Diagrams
Create and maintain Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
Develop and execute Design Verification Test Plan
Coordinate test setup with internal and external test facilities
Review test data
Create NPI issues and support design improvements based on testing insights
Provide documentation of validation to support compliance with customer or regional standards (TANs / Functional Safety / etc.)
Work independently on battery system test planning, execution, and documentation
Operate in office, labs, factories, and proving grounds
Years of Experience and Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of experience
Master's or PhD degrees may substitute for 3+ years of experience
Preferred background in battery systems or testing and understanding of battery standards
Skills Required
Technical Skills (Required):
Understanding of battery electrical systems
Ability to read prints and electrical schematics
Previous product development experience (design, validation/test, or analysis)
Ability to document issues and assist in identifying root causes
Technical Skills (Desired):
Experience in battery system development
Experience with off-road equipment
Soft Skills (Required):
Ability to safely work with battery systems
Good organizational skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Creative problem-solving with minimal direction
