The Sr. Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and components. This role applies engineering knowledge to support the planning, testing, and implementation of mechanical and electromechanical systems.
This job profile is intended for experienced professionals who apply practical knowledge of a job area and work independently with general supervision.

Position Summary
The individual with this position will have to coordinate between the machine shop, quotation department and the customer. This position is mainly an on-site position at 1910 jasmine drive but might involve upto 40% field service work. This engineering position will entail a dual role with hands-on tasks along with office responsibilities. It is expected that the individual will need training as part of the on-boarding process and Sulzer will accommodate.
Job requirements
Preferred 3 years' experience in rotating equipment repairs
The preferred experience is in rotating equipment repairs, but acceptable experience includes
Rotating equipment manufacturing
Rotating equipment package design and assembly
Vibration analysis
Field Service-Overhauls
Proficient with CAD software: AutoDesk or Solidworks
Preferred Knowhow of the following topics
Rolling element bearings, sleeve babbitt bearings
Oil seals and their functionality
Vibration spectrums and how to interpret them
Alignment
Proficient in the usage of micrometers
Familiarity with seal and bearing clearances to shafts is preferred if not it is expected this topic is learnt by the engineer as part of on-the-job training.
Role
The mechanical engineer will need to bridge the communication to the customers on the mechanical portion of the repair.
The mechanical engineer will need to be involved on the discovery side of the inspections to assist in developing an accurate workscope.
Should be proficient in CAD software to document design changes and create drawings to be shared with the customers.
This role will require the individual to be hands-on and involved in the day-to day operations.
The role will require performing or confirming precise measurements using micrometers and calipers.
