Project Engineer - Process Modeling & Simulation

The Operations organization is comprised of more than 6,000 dedicated professionals deployed to company and customer sites throughout the country. Operations touches all Space programs and products managing our supply chain; producing, assembling, testing and transporting mission critical hardware; ensuring safety, quality and security; integrating enterprise plans; maintaining and improving our facilities; while ensuring program performance. All of the essential elements that ultimately result in the delivery of spacecraft, missiles and instruments to our customers. Every day, the work we do makes a difference.

With a focus on productivity, this role will support Digital Transformation efforts targeted toward streamlining existing processes, optimizing cycle times, reducing errors, reducing cost, and improving customer satisfaction as identified by the business strategy.

In this role you will have the following daily key responsibilities:

Facilitate cross-functional workshops with support teams (operations, supply chain, quality, etc.) to document current-state and future-state processes (VSM/PFD)
Regularly engage with internal stakeholders to understand their analysis needs.
Build, validate, and maintain discrete event simulation (DES) models of manufacturing processes and supply chain flows.
Deploy and support use of modeling and simulation to the facility level.
Conduct what if scenarios, and identify capacity constraints and bottlenecks.
Present findings, recommendations, and trade-offs to stakeholders and senior leadership.
Work closely with production leadership to provide actionable insights.
Expect to travel to internal and external production facilities / suppliers up to 25%.

The preferred candidate will be located near one of our Lockheed Martin Space facilities in either:
Denver, CO ,
King of Prussia/Valley Forge, PA ,
OR
Rocket City USA: Huntsville/Courtland AL , and be expected to work in the office as needed and as appropriate. To be effective, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:

Bachelors degree in STEM field.
3+ years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or operations modeling.
Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, including process mapping.
You will need to be a US Citizen, and be able to obtain and maintain a US SECRET clearance , to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Masters Degree.
Experience developing process flow diagrams and analyzing production systems
Hands-on experience with discrete event simulation tools (e.g., Simio, Process Simulator, Arena, FlexSim)
Experience working across multiple facilities or with external suppliers
Familiarity with production planning, supply chain modeling, or capacity analysis
Knowledge of statistical analysis and optimization techniques
Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python, or similar)
Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders in a dynamic environment
Ability to facilitate structured discussions and extract process knowledge from diverse teams
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Possess effective relationship-building skills with peers, leadership and stakeholders,
Demonstrated exceptional strategic communication skills, both written, verbal, and presentation, to effectively communicate business cases to all levels of peers, and stakeholders, as well as program executives, with an ability to persuade and motivate action.
