Reports To: Position Summary
The Metallurgical / Welding Engineer - Entry Level supports engineering, production, quality, and technical services functions within a manufacturing environment. This role is designed for a recent graduate seeking hands-on experience in metallurgy, welding processes, materials, and manufacturing operations.
The position provides opportunities to develop technical knowledge, participate in process improvement initiatives, and support troubleshooting and production activities while working alongside experienced engineering and technical personnel. Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Support
Assist with metallurgical evaluations, material analysis, and product testing
Support troubleshooting efforts related to manufacturing and quality concerns
Assist with reviewing specifications, procedures, and technical documentation
Participate in process improvement and Lean initiatives
Production Support
Work closely with production teams to support daily manufacturing operations
Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting
Support implementation of process improvements and corrective actions
Learn manufacturing processes related to alloys, brazing materials, and powder processing
Quality & Continuous Improvement
Assist Quality and Engineering teams with investigations and corrective actions
Support development and maintenance of SOPs and process documentation
Participate in audits, inspections, and continuous improvement projects
Professional Development
Participate in cross-functional training across engineering, quality, production, and technical support
Develop technical knowledge related to metallurgy, welding, materials, and manufacturing operations
Build skills necessary for advancement into senior engineering and technical leadership roles
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
Recent graduate or 0-3 years of related experience
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a team-oriented manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
Internship or co-op experience in manufacturing or engineering
Exposure to metallurgy, welding, or industrial processes
Familiarity with Lean manufacturing concepts
Experience using Microsoft Office applications
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Work performed in an industrial manufacturing environment
Frequent exposure to industrial dusts and metal powders including nickel, chrome, cobalt, copper, silicon, and iron
Required use of PPE including safety glasses, steel-toe footwear, hearing protection, and respiratory protection when necessary
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs occasionally
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the facility
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as needed
Exposure to noise, moving equipment, forklifts, and varying temperatures
Flexible hours and overtime may be required based on production demands
