Process Production Engineer
Specialty Resins Division | Pasadena, TX
Are you a chemical engineer who enjoys being on the plant floor, solving operational challenges, and leading continuous improvement efforts? Mitsubishi Chemical Group is seeking a Process Production Engineer to join our Specialty Resins team in Pasadena, Texas.
This position is designed for a high-potential engineer who wants to build leadership experience while driving production performance, operational excellence, and team success in a complex chemical manufacturing environment. You will work closely with Production, Maintenance, Technical, and EHS teams to improve plant operations, increase efficiency, and support the long-term success of our Specialty Resins business.
What You'll Do
As a key member of the Operations team, you will:
- Partner with Production leadership to achieve daily, weekly, and annual production goals
- Monitor plant performance and identify opportunities to improve throughput, quality, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to address production issues
- Work directly with operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to resolve operational challenges
- Support production planning and execution to maximize plant performance and meet customer demand
- Analyze process data and recommend improvements that increase productivity and operational effectiveness
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, reliability, and operational excellence
- Support plant turnaround planning, equipment upgrades, and operational improvement projects
- Assist with the management and optimization of DCS systems and production recipes
- Scale new products from laboratory development to commercial manufacturing
- Participate in Process Safety Management (PSM), HAZOPs, and operational risk assessments
- Support environmental, health, and safety compliance initiatives
- Develop leadership capabilities through increased ownership of production-focused projects and cross-functional teams
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline required
- 47 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, process engineering, production engineering, or operations support
- Strong understanding of plant operations, process optimization, and manufacturing processes
- Experience troubleshooting production issues and driving operational improvements
- Demonstrated ability to influence teams and collaborate across Operations, Maintenance, Technical, and EHS functions
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in polymer, resin, or specialty chemical manufacturing
- Experience supporting production teams in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of DCS systems, process controls, and manufacturing automation
- Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and HAZOP studies
- Demonstrated leadership potential and desire to progress into manufacturing leadership

The salary range for this position is $105,000 - $125,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
