Job Description
This role leads the planning and execution of complex electrical construction projects from inception through closeout. The Project Manager develops and manages schedules and budgets, coordinates field and office teams, and ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. This position also drives process improvements, maintains strong client and stakeholder relationships, and supports a culture of quality, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Responsibilities
- Create and manage detailed project schedules, milestones, and deliverables to ensure timely completion of all project phases.
- Provide regular project updates to clients and stakeholders, clearly communicating project status, key milestones, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Communicate frequently with field supervision to align on project goals, resolve issues, and support successful field execution.
- Attend and lead project meetings, including coordination, progress, and review meetings, ensuring clear action items and follow-up.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including progress reports, change orders, submittals, RFIs, and project closeout documents.
- Support estimating efforts by reviewing project scopes, plans, and specifications and contributing to cost and schedule development as needed.
- Identify and address project-related issues, conflicts, or delays promptly and effectively, proposing solutions that keep the project on track.
- Develop comprehensive project budgets and forecasts, monitor costs against budgets, and implement cost-saving measures where appropriate.
- Procure and coordinate materials, equipment, and subcontractors, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with project requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance project efficiency, quality, and profitability.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination among project team members, including engineering, field operations, and administrative staff.
- Support project closeout activities, including punch list completion, final documentation, and turnover to the client.
- Engage in job training and mentorship activities, supporting the development of team members and fostering a learning-focused environment.
- At least 5 years of experience as a Project Manager, preferably in electrical construction or a closely related field.
- Strong project management skills with proven experience in planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
- Construction management experience with practical knowledge of construction processes and field operations.
- Experience managing change orders, including documentation, pricing, and negotiation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software tools.
- Experience with project management platforms such as Procore, Emque, Riskcast, Toric, and similar systems.
- Bachelors degree in electrical contracting, engineering, construction management, or equivalent work experience in the electrical contracting or engineering space.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong business acumen in project planning, financial management, and strategic decision-making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly to clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Practical knowledge of construction practices, methods, and sequencing.
- Experience working on projects involving metropolitan transit authorities or similar transit-related environments.
- Experience in electrical contracting projects such as mission critical and data centers, rail systems, transit facilities, office buildings, hospitals, power generation, substations, transmission and distribution, renewables, co-generation facilities, roadway and outdoor specialty work, airports, industrial facilities, chip plants, universities, sports stadiums, extra high voltage distribution, utility, and gas infrastructure.

This role is primarily based on site, supporting active electrical construction projects. The work environment involves close collaboration with field supervision, trades, and project stakeholders in dynamic construction settings. Project teams use Microsoft Office and specialized project management software such as Procore, Emque, Riskcast, and Toric to plan, track, and document work. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Long Island City, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.09 - $72.11/hr.
