Sr. Electrical Engineer High Voltage Lab
The Sr. Electrical Engineer serves as the technical lead in a high voltage laboratory, overseeing testing, data acquisition, and system development activities. This role designs and supports electrical circuits and systems for high voltage applications, leads lab operations, and guides engineers and technicians to ensure accurate, reliable, and efficient testing. The position combines deep expertise in circuit design and data acquisition with specialization in power electronics and/or programming to drive continuous improvement of lab capabilities, procedures, and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day high voltage lab operations as the primary technical resource and team lead.
- Design, test, and support electrical circuits and systems for high voltage applications.
- Plan and execute electrical and high voltage tests, ensuring accurate setup and safe operation of lab equipment.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret test data, and generate clear, detailed technical reports.
- Develop, document, and implement lab procedures, test methods, and standardized test documentation.
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems, circuits, test setups, and associated instrumentation.
- Oversee and support lab maintenance, including calibration of oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other test equipment.
- Identify, plan, and execute system upgrades to improve lab performance, reliability, and safety.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance lab capabilities, test coverage, and testing efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support product development, validation, and troubleshooting needs.
- Mentor and guide engineers and technicians, providing technical direction and knowledge transfer within the lab environment.
- Ensure high attention to detail and consistency in all testing activities, documentation, and reporting.
Essential Skills
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on circuit design and data acquisition.
- Hands-on experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably with high voltage systems.
- Strong proficiency in circuit design, analysis, and troubleshooting for electrical and high voltage applications.
- Demonstrated experience with data acquisition for electrical and high voltage testing.
- Practical experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other standard electrical lab equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical testing methods, including the use of fuses, isolators, and protection circuits.
- Experience in either power electronics or programming, with the ability to apply one of these specializations to lab and test system development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to complex electrical and test challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present technical findings clearly.
- Proven ability to lead technical efforts and take ownership of lab initiatives and projects.
- High attention to detail in test setup, execution, data analysis, and documentation.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rosemont, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
