Environmental Engineer Jobs in Washington
Environmental Engineers are integral to the engineering industry as they have a role in designing, developing, and implementing solutions to environmental problems. They use principles of engineering, soil science, biology, and chemistry to design and implement environmental projects. These projects can range from recycling to waste disposal, to water and air pollution control. They are also responsible for conducting hazardous-waste management studies, evaluating the significance of the hazard, offering analysis on treatment and containment, and developing regulations to prevent mishaps.
Important skills for Environmental Engineers include problem-solving, creativity, project management, and analytical skills. Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software is also a necessity. They should also have a strong background in math and science. In terms of certifications, most employers require a degree in environmental engineering or a related field. Some positions may also require a Professional Engineer (PE) license. Before becoming an environmental engineer, an individual might have roles such as an Environmental Scientist, Environmental Consultant, or Environmental Technician.
